About The Position
Firmdale Hotels is seeking a friendly, professional Bar Host to join the team at Crosby Street Hotel, a luxury boutique hotel in SoHo. The Bar Host is the welcoming face of the establishment and helps create an exceptional bar and dining experience. The role includes greeting guests, answering telephone calls, taking reservations, responding to emails, and seating guests promptly according to their preferences. This is a full-time, non-exempt tipped position reporting to the Restaurant Manager. The work schedule is flexible and includes AM/PM shifts, weekends, and holidays. The position also requires courteous guest service during busy periods, effective coordination of seating and customer flow across service stations, and communication with the bar, restaurant, and other hotel departments. The Bar Host is expected to maintain a polished appearance, be punctual, and take personal responsibility for assigned tasks. The job description notes that duties are a guideline and may change from time to time.
Requirements
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Flexible availability for AM/PM shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance.
- Ability to stand and move comfortably for long periods.

- OpenTable certification or prior experience is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet all guests upon arrival with a polished, approachable demeanor.
- Provide estimated waiting times and remain professional and courteous during peak or challenging service moments.
- Seat guests according to their preferences while balancing customer flow across service stations.
- Manage the reservation book via OpenTable.
- Thank guests as they leave, invite them to return, and relay immediate feedback to the manager on duty.
- Maintain communication between the bar, restaurant, and other hotel departments.
- Answer incoming calls, manage reservation systems, and promptly handle email correspondence.
- Promote sister Firmdale Hotels and associated dining concepts.
- Maintain punctuality and personal responsibility in all tasks.
