About The Position

The host or hostess is the restaurant’s first impression for guests and is empowered to create memorable guest experiences. The role welcomes and seats guests, supports restaurant reservations and special functions, maintains dining-room setup, and helps coordinate communication between shifts and management. The position is at Hotel Contessa, an all-suite hotel on San Antonio’s Riverwalk.

Requirements

Comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders, and similar written materials.
Remember, recite, and promote menu items.
Move throughout a crowded room to seat guests, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Address customer complaints and concerns in a friendly, positive manner by listening, demonstrating empathy, and providing proactive solutions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
Have effective verbal and written communication skills.
Adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Meet and greet arriving guests, offer seating choices, escort them to their table, and present menus.
Maintain the logbook and make daily entries to coordinate communication between shifts and management.
Maintain proper dining-room setup.
Receive and record reservations and make necessary arrangements for restaurant special functions.
Follow attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
