About The Position

The Host or Hostess serves as the restaurant’s critical first impression and is empowered to create memorable guest experiences. The role welcomes and seats guests, supports dining-room readiness, and coordinates reservations and shift communications. The position is at Hotel Contessa, an all-suite hotel on San Antonio’s Riverwalk.

Requirements

Ability to comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders, and similar written materials.
Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
Ability to move throughout a crowded room to seat guests, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to address customer complaints and concerns in a friendly, positive manner by listening, demonstrating empathy, and providing proactive solutions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including adapting communication style to different audiences.

Responsibilities

Meet and greet guests as they arrive, offer seating choices, escort them to their table, and present the menu.
Read, maintain, and make daily entries in the logbook to coordinate communication between shifts and management.
Maintain proper dining-room setup.
Receive and record reservations and make necessary arrangements for restaurant reservations and special functions.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
