About The Position

The Carolina Yacht Club seeks a friendly, upbeat Host/Hostess for its members-only restaurant. The role primarily involves day shifts, including weekends, with possible night shifts. The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with members and guests, learning members’ names, taking initiative, and using appropriate language when speaking in front of members. Some back-of-house assistance may be needed, including inspecting and cleaning restrooms.

Requirements

• Friendly, upbeat manner and genuine enjoyment of interacting with people.
• Willingness to make small talk with members and guests and learn members’ names.
• Willingness to take initiative with tasks and use appropriate verbiage in front of members.
• Ability to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, or reach.
• Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform continuous repetitive motions.
• Ability to work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet members as soon as they enter.
• Maintain a neat, organized front-of-house desk area.
• Assist with opening and closing side work when needed.
• Learn the food and beverage menu.
• Rotate seating among different stations to ensure even workloads for staff.
• Answer phones and schedule dining reservations.
• Seat members in a timely manner.
• Provide occasional back-of-house assistance, such as inspecting and cleaning restrooms.
