About The Position

The Higgins Hotel is seeking a part-time Host/ess to join the team at Rosie's on the Roof. The role welcomes guests and helps create a warm, guest-focused atmosphere in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The Host/ess greets and assists guests, escorts them to tables, provides menus and recommendations, coordinates with kitchen and serving staff, manages reservations and the waiting list, and responds to guest inquiries or concerns. The position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The Higgins Hotel & Conference Center is a 230-room hotel across the street from The National WWII Museum in New Orleans. It offers a full-service restaurant, lounge, rooftop bar, and more than 18,000 square feet of conference and event space. The hotel welcomes veterans and individuals with disabilities and is committed to an inclusive workplace.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service experience, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Friendly and outgoing personality.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Knowledge of reservation systems and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly upon arrival.
• Escort guests to tables and keep seating arrangements organized.
• Provide menus, answer questions, and make recommendations.
• Coordinate with the kitchen and servers to support timely service.
• Assist with reservations and manage the waiting list.
• Maintain a clean and organized host/hostess station.
• Handle guest inquiries and resolve issues or complaints.
• Uphold high standards of professionalism and service excellence.
