About The Position

The Food & Beverage Hostess/Cashier is responsible for greeting guests courteously, ensuring the outlet is clean and stocked, and handling all monetary transactions. This role requires a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard. The Host Person will assist Food Servers, Bus Persons, and Food Service Runners with guest contact and table information, escort guests to tables, and maintain knowledge of daily activities, house count, and restaurant details. Responsibilities include answering the telephone, ensuring menus are current, communicating guest needs to the kitchen and management, and monitoring the cleanliness of assigned areas. The role also involves operating the POS system, handling money and credit transactions, and addressing guest concerns.

Requirements

High volume restaurant management or supervisory experience required
Basic knowledge of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machine
Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills
Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
High school diploma or equivalent
Two (2) years of related experience
Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays
Alcohol Awareness Card
Health Card
Minimum age requirement is 21
One (1) year of Food & Beverage Cashier or equivalent experience in a cash handling position
Experience in a high volume food outlet
Experience with touch screens
Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality
May be exposed to smoke
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
Constant contact with executives, department management, employees, and guests
Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility
Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions
Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally
Eye/hand coordination
Use of standard office equipment
May be required to work evening, weekends, and holiday shifts

Responsibilities

Assist the Food Servers, Bus Persons, and Food Service Runners as it relates to guest contact and table information
Escort guests to tables using established rotation criteria
Convey special orders, cake orders, and special requests information to management
Maintain knowledge of scheduled daily activities and in-house groups, daily house count, table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range and dress code of the restaurant
Greet guests promptly as they enter the restaurant
Answer the telephone and facilitate guest requests
Ensure menus have proper inserts and are current according to the most recent change, and replace all menus in poor condition
Communicate the needs of the guests to the kitchen and management
Inform management of guest reactions and comments, and assist management as needed to ensure smooth operation and quality service
Frequently check back with guests who are waiting to be seated; make it evident to guests that they have not been forgotten and that tables are being prepared for them
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas; shut down podium and forward phones to voice-loop at end of shift
Operate POS system
Handle money and credit transactions
Notify manager on duty of any guest concerns
Perform other job-related duties as requested
