About The Position

At Black Bear Diners, a family-friendly restaurant serving homemade food and providing friendly service since 1995, the Host/Cashier/Busser is part of the Server Support Team and helps ensure guests have a positive experience. The role includes greeting and seating guests, managing wait times, supporting servers, maintaining clean dining and guest areas, handling takeout orders and payments, and completing assigned side work. Employees must follow company appearance and uniform standards and be available to fill in as needed to support restaurant operations.

Responsibilities

Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible.
Greet arriving guests warmly and promptly.
Seat guests according to their preferences while balancing customer flow among service stations.
When seating is limited, record guest names and party sizes, provide estimated wait times, and notify guests when tables are available.
Offer guests menus after seating and inspect tables for proper presentation and completeness.
Relay messages to servers as needed.
Maintain clean entrances, lobbies, dining rooms, and restrooms.
Assist servers with maintaining and stocking service stations.
Transport bus tubs containing dirty dishes to the dish room when needed.
Clean and reset tables promptly, including cleaning chairs, booths, and nearby carpet.
Take takeout food and beverage orders and enter them into the point-of-sale system.
Process payments accurately and efficiently and close checks.
Thank guests for visiting and invite them to return.
Perform assigned side work at the start and end of each shift.
Fill in as needed to support smooth and efficient restaurant operations, as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
Comply with company appearance and uniform standards.
