About The Position

At Black Bear Diners, a family-friendly restaurant concept serving homemade food since 1995, a Server Support Team member is responsible for helping ensure guests have a positive and friendly experience. The role includes greeting and seating guests, managing wait lists, supporting servers, maintaining clean dining and guest areas, handling takeout orders and payments, and completing assigned side work. Team members must comply with company appearance and uniform standards and be available to fill in as needed to support restaurant operations. Duties may be changed or reassigned by management, including to accommodate reasonable accommodations or other reasons.

Ability to perform frequent reaching, manual tasks, walking with hip flexion, bending, squatting, and stooping.
Ability to climb step stools for cleaning projects as needed.
Ability to work with frequent exposure to cold or below-freezing temperatures and high heat, including near walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and ovens.

Responsibilities

Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible.
Greet arriving guests warmly and promptly.
Seat guests according to their preferences and the flow of customers in service stations.
When seating is limited, record guest names and party sizes, provide estimated wait times, and call guests when tables become available.
Offer menus when seating guests and inspect tables for proper presentation and completeness.
Relay messages to servers as needed.
Maintain clean entrances, lobbies, dining rooms, and restrooms.
Assist servers with maintaining and stocking service stations.
Transport bus tubs of dirty dishes to the dish room when needed.
Clean and promptly reset tables, chairs, booths, and surrounding carpet.
Take food and beverage orders for takeout and enter orders into the point-of-sale system.
Process payments correctly and efficiently and close checks.
Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
Perform assigned side work at the beginning and end of each shift.
Fill in as needed to support smooth and efficient restaurant operations, as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
Comply with company appearance and uniform standards.
