About The Position

At Black Bear Diners, a family-friendly restaurant concept serving homemade food since 1995, a Server Support Team member is responsible for helping ensure guests have a positive and friendly experience. The role combines hosting, cashiering, bussing, and general restaurant support. Team members must follow company appearance and uniform standards and may be assigned or reassigned duties by management.

Requirements

• Patience, a good sense of humor, and enthusiasm.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and multitask.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform frequent reaching, manual dexterity, walking, bending, squatting, and stooping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb step stools for cleaning projects as needed.
• Ability to work in areas exposed to cold or below-freezing temperatures and high heat, including walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and ovens.

Responsibilities

• Accommodate special seating requests when possible.
• Greet arriving guests warmly and promptly.
• Seat guests according to their preferences while balancing customer flow among service stations.
• When seating is limited, record guest names and party sizes, provide estimated wait times, and call guests when tables become available.
• Offer menus when seating guests and check tables for proper presentation and completeness.
• Relay messages to servers as needed.
• Maintain clean entrances, lobbies, dining rooms, and restrooms.
• Assist servers with maintaining and stocking service stations.
• Transport bus tubs of dirty dishes to the dish room when needed.
• Clean and reset tables promptly, including chairs, booths, and surrounding carpet.
• Take takeout food and beverage orders and enter them into the point-of-sale system.
• Process payments correctly and efficiently and close checks.
• Thank guests for visiting and invite them to return.
• Perform assigned side work at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Fill in as needed to support smooth and efficient restaurant operations, as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
• Comply with company appearance and uniform standards.
