About The Position

At Block by Block, Ambassadors are employed to enhance public spaces by making them friendlier, safer, and cleaner for the communities served. This role is ideal for outgoing and friendly individuals who enjoy working outdoors and meeting new people, including retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors seeking their first job. The Hospitality Ambassador will maintain a high level of visibility at street level, performing a variety of tasks to improve the overall experience and appearance of their assigned zone, while consistently maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.

Requirements

• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk and (may include riding a 3-wheeled bike cart) continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of tasks to improve the overall experience and appearance of the zone they are assigned to.
• Maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Remove litter (fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris) on the streets/sidewalks and alleys while moving through the zone with a rolling trash can.
• Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios.
• Complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
