About The Position

Legacy Salmon Creek Hospitalist Group is seeking a supplemental hospitalist to join its growing team. The role provides medical care, including scheduled call coverage, to patients assigned to the Department of Medicine’s inpatient service. The hospitalist works with Emergency Department clinical staff, physicians, nursing and administrative staff, and outpatient clinicians to coordinate care and use clinical resources effectively. The role may include managing patients in critical care units with Intensivist support and supervising care delivered by house staff and other clinicians.

Requirements

• Graduate of a four-year medical school or equivalent and completion of an Internal Medicine residency.
• At least one year of internal medicine or Chief residency experience.
• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Unrestricted Oregon medical license.
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt and efficient medical care, including call coverage, to patients assigned to the Department of Medicine’s inpatient service as scheduled.
• Perform duties at the professional level of quality and efficiency established by the Hospital.
• Collaborate with Emergency Department clinical staff to determine the most appropriate site of care for individual patients.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and administrative staff to maximize cost-effective use of clinical resources.
• Communicate promptly and clearly about patient admissions, changes in condition, and discharges to clinicians responsible for outpatient care.
• May manage the care of patients in critical care units with Intensivist support.
• Collaborate with the Medical Director in scheduling.
• Supervise patient care delivered by house staff, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and others as requested.
• Prepare accurate and timely documentation of patient care to support accurate Hospital billing and collection of services.
