About The Position

Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood, an 188-bed acute care hospital serving Central Texas, is seeking a physician for a full-time day admitter/swing hospitalist position. The role is focused on admissions, consultations, patient flow, and acute response support, allowing rounding physicians to focus on inpatient floor and ICU management. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the physician manages admissions, consultations, transfers, rapid responses, and codes, and serves as the first responder for rapid response and code events before transitioning care to the attending physician. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., admissions are shared with the nocturnist to support seamless transitions and continuity of care. The hospital has a 14-bed open ICU with hospitalist admission and rounding responsibilities, an average cross-coverage census of 50–60 patients, and a hospital-wide code team. The practice environment includes three daytime hospitalists, one day admitter, and one full-time nocturnist. The facility is a Level IV Trauma Center with 24/7 emergency care and helicopter transport access. The role offers collaboration with a physician team and specialty support, along with access to TeamHealth's nationwide clinical network, education, and leadership resources. The EMR is Allscripts.

Requirements

Board-certified or board-eligible in internal medicine.
Eligible for Texas medical licensure.

Responsibilities

Manage admissions, consultations, and transfers.
Respond to rapid responses and codes as the first responder, then transition care to the attending physician.
Share admissions with the nocturnist from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Participate in hospitalist admission and rounding responsibilities for the open ICU.
Participate in the hospital-wide code team.
Support patient flow and the inpatient team.
