About The Position

Provides transport and support for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Department of Laboratory Medicine, and their clients. Drives hospital-provided vehicles on courier routes and on-demand jobs. The position is full-time, scheduled from 2 PM to 10 PM, and benefits eligible. A valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance are required by hospital policy. The employee must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, meet insurance eligibility and driving qualifications, complete required training, and maintain compliance with insurance guidelines.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Ohio driver’s license as required by hospital policy.
Proof of auto insurance.
Pass a motor vehicle background inspection and meet the hospital’s insurance eligibility and driving qualifications.
Complete training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification under its insurance guidelines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer knowledge.
Ability to use a hospital-provided cell phone and communication tracking system.

Responsibilities

Maintain the schedule and complete routine and on-demand routes daily.
Handle pickups and deliveries from laboratories, pharmacies, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and outpatient centers.
Document route information and pickups according to department guidelines.
Evaluate and monitor weather conditions throughout the shift to plan for anticipated trips and regional delays.
Maintain the safety of cargo and vehicles in accordance with hospital guidelines.
Assist with training new staff and document their progress according to department guidelines.
Provide efficient and effective customer service to support customer satisfaction and quality patient care.
