About The Position

Provides transport and support for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Department of Laboratory Medicine, and their clients. The courier drives hospital-provided vehicles on scheduled courier routes and on-demand jobs. The position is full-time, scheduled from 2 PM to 10 PM, and is benefits eligible. A valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance are required by hospital policy. The employee must pass the motor vehicle background inspection, meet insurance eligibility and driving qualifications, complete required training, and maintain qualification under the hospital’s insurance guidelines.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Ohio driver’s license as required by hospital policy.
Pass the motor vehicle background inspection, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Maintain qualification under the hospital’s insurance guidelines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer knowledge.
Ability to use a hospital-provided cell phone and communication tracking system.

Responsibilities

Maintain the schedule while completing routine and on-demand routes each day.
Pick up and deliver items from laboratories, pharmacies, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and outpatient centers.
Document route information and pickups according to department guidelines.
Evaluate and monitor weather conditions throughout the shift to plan for anticipated trips and regional delays.
Maintain the safety of cargo and the vehicle in accordance with hospital guidelines.
Assist in training new staff and document their progress according to department guidelines.
Provide efficient and effective customer service to support customer satisfaction and quality patient care.
