About The Position

Hospice volunteers are needed to provide companionship and support to patients and their families in Cuyahoga County and surrounding areas. This role offers a variety of volunteer activities, from direct patient interaction to administrative support and craft-making. The time commitment is flexible and can be adjusted to fit your schedule.

Requirements

• Availability of time and skills that pertain to the volunteer activity
• Maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work independently and take directions well.
• Empathetic listening skills
• Ability to understand and tolerate hardship stories.

Responsibilities

• Sitting with patients to provide companionship, play games, and offer a friendly, comforting presence.
• Sending encouraging letters and cards.
• Assisting with light household chores and errands.
• Calling patients and their families to check on needs.
• Assisting with administrative duties at our Beachwood office.
• Making blankets, quilts, pillows, and crafts for our patients.
• Providing support to our bereaved families by assisting with mailings, phone calls, and in-home grief support visits.
