About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Albany, Saratoga Springs, Clifton Park, and the surrounding metropolitan area of New York. Care is provided in pets’ homes, where families can be present in a familiar setting. The role emphasizes taking time to listen, answer questions, and help families say goodbye with dignity and peace, without the pace of a traditional clinic. The veterinarian practices independently while traveling to appointments, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Scheduling options range from two days per week to full time, with self-managed scheduling available. Weekend days are selected by the veterinarian rather than assigned through a fixed rotation. Guaranteed compensation ranges from $50,000 to $125,000 depending on schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. Heartstrings states that it does not impose non-competes.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
