About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in the Cleveland metropolitan area. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, where veterinarians help families through end-of-life decisions and goodbyes with kindness, dignity, and peace. The role is designed to allow time for listening and supporting families, with only a few appointments per day and no double-booking.

Veterinarians practice independently while on the road and receive thoughtful onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Schedules are self-managed and can range from two to five days per week. Compensation varies by schedule and includes a guaranteed base salary and quarterly bonus opportunities. The position does not require a non-compete agreement.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
• Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
• Support families through end-of-life decisions and help them say goodbye with dignity and compassion.
• Answer families’ questions and explain care options with kindness.
• Practice independently while traveling to appointments, with team support available when needed.
