About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Akron, Canton, Cuyahoga Falls, Kent, Ohio, and surrounding areas. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, with a focus on being fully present, answering families’ questions, and helping them say goodbye with dignity and peace. The role offers a slower-paced alternative to traditional clinic work, with only a few appointments each day and no double-booking. Veterinarians practice independently while traveling to appointments, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues available for support. Schedules are self-managed and can range from two to five days per week, with full-time and part-time options. Weekend work is arranged by choosing four weekend days per month. Compensation is based on schedule and includes a guaranteed base salary with quarterly bonus opportunities.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities
