About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Charlotte and surrounding North Carolina and South Carolina communities. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, where veterinarians help families navigate end-of-life decisions and provide peaceful, dignified goodbyes. The role is designed to allow time for attentive, unhurried appointments, with only a few visits per day. Veterinarians practice independently while traveling to appointments and receive onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Scheduling options range from two days per week to full-time, with self-managed scheduling available. Full-time compensation varies by schedule: five days per week pays a guaranteed $135,000 salary, and four days per week pays a guaranteed $110,000 salary, with quarterly bonus opportunities. Two- and three-day schedules offer prorated compensation. The posting states guaranteed compensation ranges from $65,000 to $155,000 depending on schedule.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
