About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care for pets in Kingwood, Atascocita, Humble, Aldine, Sheldon, Texas, and the surrounding metropolitan area. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, where veterinarians help families navigate end-of-life decisions and say goodbye with dignity and peace. The role offers a quieter pace than a traditional clinic, with a few appointments per day and time to listen, explain, and support each family. Veterinarians practice independently while traveling to appointments, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues available for support. Schedules range from two days per week to full-time, with self-managed scheduling options. Compensation is guaranteed and ranges from $65,000 to $155,000 depending on schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. The role does not include a non-compete agreement.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in clients’ homes.
Support families through end-of-life decisions and help them say goodbye with dignity and peace.
Listen to families, explain care and options, and allow time for each appointment.
Travel independently to appointments in the service area.
Choose four weekend days per month to work, rather than following a fixed rotation.
