About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and families in Los Angeles, Torrance, Pasadena, Glendale, and Santa Monica, California. The work takes place in clients’ homes, where pets can be surrounded by familiar comforts and loved ones. Veterinarians have time to listen, answer questions, and help families say goodbye with dignity and peace, with only a few appointments each day and no double-booking or rushed visits. The veterinarian practices independently while traveling to appointments, with support from thoughtful onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues. Scheduling options include five-day and four-day full-time schedules, as well as two- and three-day full-time and self-managed part-time schedules. Weekend days are chosen by the veterinarian: four weekend days per month, scheduled around personal commitments. Compensation includes a guaranteed base salary with no negative accrual and opportunities for quarterly bonuses. The five-day full-time schedule offers a $155,000 base salary; the four-day full-time schedule starts at $140,000. Compensation for other schedules is prorated or discussed based on the schedule and bonus structure. The role requires a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM/VMD/BVMS), a valid U.S. driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance. Candidates undergo license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before their start date.
