About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in Akron, Canton, Cuyahoga Falls, Kent, Ohio, and surrounding areas. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, where veterinarians can take time to listen, answer questions, and help families say goodbye with dignity and peace. The work involves a few appointments per day and does not require rushing between appointments. Veterinarians practice independently while supported by thoughtful onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues. Schedules are self-managed, with options ranging from two to five days per week. Compensation depends on the schedule: five-day full-time starts at $105,000 base salary, four-day full-time starts at $90,000, and other schedules receive prorated compensation. Full-time compensation ranges from $60,000 to $135,000, with quarterly bonus opportunities. Weekend work is scheduled by choosing four weekend days per month. The employer does not use non-compete agreements.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
