Hospice RN On-Call Weekend
About The Position
Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Hospice RN On-Call provides after-hours clinical support, triages patient needs, and coordinates care to ensure continuity and quality outcomes. The role delivers remote and field-based nursing support, assesses patient conditions, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to address urgent and emergent needs. The position is salaried and includes mileage. The EMR used is Home Care Home Base. The listed annual salary range is $79,600 to $119,400, based on full-time employment. Pay depends on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. Benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements. Candidates must pass a drug test before beginning employment.
Requirements
- Current RN license specific to the state(s) assigned.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience; hospice, home health, or acute care experience is preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

Responsibilities
- Provide on-call nursing support, triage patient needs, and determine appropriate interventions.
- Assess patient conditions by phone and/or in-person visits and escalate care as needed.
- Coordinate with physicians, care teams, and caregivers to support timely and effective care delivery.
- Provide patients and caregivers with education on symptom management and care plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and clinical decisions.
