About The Position

Principle Choice Home Healthcare and Hospice provides care centered on dignity, tenderness, respect, and compassion. Under the supervision of the Director of Hospice, the On-Call Hospice Nurse provides nursing care to clients outside traditional weekday hours. The role includes telephonic triage, urgent home visits, management of acute pain and other symptoms, emotional support, care documentation, and facilitating patient pronouncements. The nurse manages care according to each client’s needs and explains care clearly to clients and their families.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited RN nursing school.
• Current RN nursing licensure in Oklahoma.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• One to two years of recent hospice nursing experience.
• Current driver's license and active vehicle insurance.
• Access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation.
• Medical knowledge, patience, compassion, kindness, critical-thinking skills, knowledge of infection control practices, stamina, physical endurance, observational skills, knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules, communication skills, leadership, and empathy.

Nice To Haves

• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide telephonic triage support.
• Conduct urgent home visits.
• Manage acute pain and other symptoms.
• Provide emotional support to clients and their families.
• Document care and facilitate patient pronouncements.
• Ensure clients and families understand release instructions.
• Monitor fluid and food intake and output.
• Move clients safely and assist with transfers and ambulation.
• Observe client reactions to medications.
• Observe client mental health status.
• Evaluate client wellbeing and report needs to medical staff.
• Explain treatments and procedures to clients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
