About The Position

The Anatomic Pathology Department at Texas Health Dallas is seeking a Histology Technologist II to join their team. This full-time evening position involves assisting with surgical pathology, performing frozen sections, special stains, and immunohistochemistry. The role requires following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, cutting and staining frozen sections, embedding, evaluating stains, and managing supply orders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • HT (ASCP) Histotechnician required within 6 months from hire
  • HTL (ASCP) Histotechnologist required within 6 months from hire

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred
  • One-year experience in histopathology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, handling, and processing.
  • Surgical pathology dissection assistance
  • Cuts and stains, thin quality frozen sections within 20 minutes of receipt to diagnosis
  • Embedding
  • Performs special stains
  • Evaluate stains
  • Gives proper notification when supplies need to be ordered
