About The Position

Encompass Health is seeking an experienced Health Information Management Systems (HIMS) professional to lead its Health Information Management team. The HIMS Supervisor oversees HIMS functions, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and works to improve the efficiency of medical records systems. The role establishes and manages systems for collecting, maintaining, controlling, retrieving, and retaining clinical information. It also contributes to an inclusive workplace culture and supports patient-centered care through training and orientation programs.

Requirements

• Proficiency with general office equipment and technology tools.
• Successful completion of the RHIA, CCS, or RHIT examination, or two years of supervisory experience without credentials.

Nice To Haves

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Record Technology/Administration Program or equivalent coursework.
• At least one year of HIMS supervisory experience in an acute or rehabilitation hospital.

Responsibilities

• Supervise HIMS staff and functions, ensuring professional and efficient operations in alignment with regulatory standards.
• Implement and oversee systems for controlling, retrieving, and retaining clinical information while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in committees and task forces focused on medical records or clinical information management objectives.
• Promote cultural diversity, equity, inclusion, and patient-centered care through continuous training and orientation programs.
