About The Position

Encompass Health is seeking a HIMS Supervisor to lead its Health Information Management team. The supervisor oversees HIMS functions, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and supports efficient medical records systems. The role establishes and manages systems for collecting, maintaining, controlling, retrieving, and retaining clinical information, with a focus on accuracy and compliance. It also contributes to an inclusive, diverse, and patient-centered workplace through training and orientation, and participates in committees and task forces concerning medical records or clinical information management.

Requirements

• Proficiency in general office equipment and technology tools.
• Successful completion of the RHIA, CCS, or RHIT exam, or two years of supervisory experience without credentials.

Nice To Haves

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Record Technology/Administration Program or equivalent coursework.
• At least one year of HIMS supervisory experience in an acute or rehabilitation hospital.

Responsibilities

• Supervise HIMS staff and functions, ensuring professional and efficient operations in alignment with regulatory standards.
• Implement and oversee systems for the control, retrieval, and retention of clinical information, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in committees and task forces focused on medical records or clinical information management objectives.
• Foster an inclusive work environment and promote cultural diversity, equity, and patient-centered care through continuous training and orientation programs.
