About The Position

At R1, the HIM Supervisor supports efficient, compliant, and high-performing health information management operations and quality outcomes. The role supervises and supports HIM staff, monitors productivity, quality, and compliance, and coordinates daily operations and workflows with hospital leaders and revenue cycle partners. It also provides guidance to hospital leaders and medical staff on medical record completion, documentation content, and HIM-related issues; supports regulatory readiness; and manages resources within established budget targets.

Requirements

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in health information management.
• At least one year of HIM experience supervising Medical Records.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee HIM operations, including document imaging, release of information, physician services, recruiting, associate training, payroll, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, workflow coordination, policy and procedure maintenance, and system-related processes.
• Review and report department productivity, quality, and compliance metrics to support operational performance.
• Serve as a resource to hospital leaders and medical staff on medical record completion, documentation content, and HIM-related issues; solve problems and establish workflows.
• Support regulatory readiness and participate in external reviews and compliance activities.
• Lead team training, scheduling, performance management, and daily work assignments.
• Manage resources cost-effectively and follow established budget targets.
