About The Position

Under direct supervision, performs timely analysis of discharged inpatient, same-day surgery, emergency room, and other patient records for completeness. Reviews records according to standards established by Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, outside regulatory agencies, and departmental procedures. Works with Medical Staff to support timely and efficient chart completion and maintains expected productivity and quality standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of previous experience in a hospital Health Information Management Department.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in HIM or a related field.
• Two years of previous experience in a hospital Health Information Management Department, with additional experience in quality analysis or a similar function.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily analysis of appropriate patient records.
• Validates that deficiencies are assigned to the correct provider by reviewing the medical record; makes corrections as needed and addresses deficiencies with support from the provider.
• Works with the Medical Staff to ensure the chart completion process is timely and efficient.
• Generates physician record-completion information on demand.
• Prepares and maintains incomplete and delinquent medical-record lists and letters, and notifies providers according to the physician escalation protocol.
• Reviews assigned electronic work lists daily and ensures timely processing of all work items.
• Communicates concerns promptly to the Supervisor or appropriate up-line.
• Maintains expected productivity and quality standards.
• Completes and submits productivity reports weekly.
