About The Position

This is a permanent, full-time position in Darke County. The selected candidates will be placed in the classification (Highway Maintenance Worker 1 or Highway Technician 1) for which they meet the minimum qualifications. The role involves serving the public by working to make Ohio's roads safer. Responsibilities include performing highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing. The position also involves performing snow and ice operations. Candidates will attend training to obtain CDL licensure if they do not already possess it.

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary (for Highway Maintenance Worker 1).
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment (for Highway Technician 1).
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction (for Highway Maintenance Worker 1).
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction (for Highway Technician 1).

  • Already a licensed CDL holder.

Responsibilities
