About The Position

The selected candidate will be placed in the classification of Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) based on meeting minimum qualifications. This permanent position involves serving the public and working to make the roads in Ohio safer. Key responsibilities include performing various highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing, as well as participating in snow and ice operations. Training to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with a tanker endorsement without an airbrake restriction will be provided if the candidate is not already a licensed CDL holder.

Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary (for HMW1).
• Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction (for HMW1).
• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary (for HT1).
• 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment (for HT1).
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction (for HT1).

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
• Attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
• Perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
• Perform snow & ice operations.
