About The Position

This position is for a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) in Putnam County. The role involves serving the public by working to make Ohio roads safer. Responsibilities include performing highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing, as well as snow and ice operations. The selected candidate will be placed in the classification for which they meet the minimum qualifications. If not already a licensed CDL holder, the individual will attend training to obtain CDL licensure.

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction, decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • If involved in driving motorized snow & ice control equipment, must also have valid commercial driver’s license.
