About The Position

The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana/non-medical cannabis). Please note, this position may be subject to additional restrictions pursuant to the State of Ohio Drug-Free Workplace Policy (HR-39), and as outlined in the posting. The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications. The selected candidate will serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer. They will attend training to obtain CDL licensure if not already a licensed CDL holder. Responsibilities include performing highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing, as well as performing snow & ice operations.

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use.
  • Must register as a driver in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
