About The Position

This position serves the public by working to make the roads in Ohio safer. The selected candidate will be placed in the classification of Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) based on their qualifications. Responsibilities include performing highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing, as well as performing snow and ice operations. The role also involves attending training to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement if not already licensed.

Requirements

  • Highway Maintenance Worker 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
