About The Position

This position is for a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) in Pickaway County. The selected candidate will be placed in the classification for which they meet the minimum qualifications. The role involves serving the public by working to make Ohio roads safer. Responsibilities include performing highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing, as well as snow and ice operations. Training will be provided to obtain CDL licensure if the candidate is not already licensed.

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction.
  • Ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary.
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • For Highway Technician 1: 3 months of training or experience in the operation of basic equipment.
  • For Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes decimals, percentages & fractions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
  • Attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
  • Perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
  • Perform snow & ice operations.
