About The Position

This position will support the Maintenance Departments road and bridge maintenance program and may occasionally complete road and bridge surveys and construction inspections.

Requirements

Class D Drivers License.
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions.
Ability to effectively and safely perform various highway maintenance activities.
Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with others.
Ability to operate large mowers safely and effectively.
Be able to maintain prompt, predictable, and reliable attendance.
Must possess a valid MN Drivers License and must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

Three months prior experience in construction work (classroom, employment, or personal) is preferred.

Responsibilities

Operates all equipment in a safe manner at all times, following all approved safety procedures to avoid accidents or property damage.
Mowing along County Roads using farm implements.
Assisting with the installation and replacement of highway culverts.
Assist crews with chip sealing, bituminous patching, and crack-filling operations.
Assist with sign installation.
Performing duties of a flagger to safely move traffic through highway construction zones.
Weed and brush control including weed spraying along county-wide roadsides.
Clean and maintain equipment on a daily basis.
Painting exterior/interior of shops as required.
Road and bridge construction project inspection support as required.
Road and bridge surveying as required.
