This internship offers the opportunity to utilize leadership and technical skills, develop a wide engineering specialist network, learn design change, validation, and certification processes, and understand how Turboshaft engine programs are managed at P&WC in all aspects.

Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship.
  • Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable.
  • Pursuing a degree in specific fields such as aeronautical/aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills in French (spoken/written).
  • English (oral and written) is also a requirement given the numerous interactions required with other Pratt & Whitney installations in the world.
  • A working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage technical requirements from an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer - the helicopter manufacturer) related to a new installation; this task will involve communication with the OEM and various P&WC Engineering specialists under the supervision of a senior project engineer to provide a detailed technical response to an engine technical specification.
  • Participate in the engineering change process required to improve engine components. This task may involve communication with suppliers under the supervision of a senior project engineer and managing activity with the various engineering module groups.
  • Carry out revisions, if necessary, of all IES (Internal Equipment Specifications - the engine specifications defining the power ratings, equipment, weight, cost, life of rotating components, etc.), and obtain all approvals from the various engineering module groups involved.
  • Lead resolution of engine discrepancy reports raised during turboshaft development with the various Engineering module groups.
  • Complete the revision of turboshaft engine Installation Manuals, obtain approvals, and manage communications and approvals with Transport Canada; manage the associated internal engineering change accordingly.
  • Support the Projects team in the follow-up of technical projects tasks with the various involved specialists (validation tests, trial fit exercises, logistics, communications, meetings, and Minutes of meetings, etc.).
  • Support DAA's (Design Approval Appointees - delegate from Transport Canada internally to P&WC) in preparing the presentation material for the foreign authorities for the validation of turboshaft engines, if required.
  • Support the Turboshaft Projects organization in organizing and classifying all technical documentation on a shared site.
