Heavy Equipment Operator - 2nd Shift
About The Position
The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates heavy equipment at a landfill to push and compact waste efficiently and safely. The expected schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Equipment may include a compactor, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader, off-road truck, and other equipment. The role also includes monitoring waste and equipment conditions, completing reports, and following company safety policies and procedures. Other job-related duties may be assigned. The listed responsibilities describe the general nature and level of the work and are not exhaustive; they may change at the company's discretion.
Requirements
- Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
- One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
- Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Professional, courteous, and cooperative conduct toward customers and coworkers.
- Honesty and trustworthiness.
- Time management skills to complete assigned responsibilities efficiently and safely.
- Ability to adhere to a work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise.
- Ability to follow company policies and rules, promote company safety standards, and avoid inappropriate risks.
- Pride in work and commitment to achieving goals.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspections in accordance with company policy, ensuring windows, lights, mirrors, and the rear-view camera are clean.
- Safely and efficiently operate equipment, which may include a compactor, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader, off-road truck, and other equipment, using proper safety standards.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
- Monitor equipment condition to ensure it remains operationally ready and minimize downtime; clean equipment tracks or wheels as needed.
- Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary reports, and report necessary repairs to a supervisor.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
