About The Position

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment at a recycling facility, landfill, or transfer station. The equipment is used to transfer, spread, cover, load, and/or compact waste or soil. The operator performs inspections and minor servicing, monitors waste and equipment condition, follows safety procedures, and completes required reports. The role also includes keeping the shop clean and communicating positively with customers, vendors, coworkers, and management.

Requirements

Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
Good time-management skills to complete assigned responsibilities efficiently and safely.
Good follow-through and the ability to adhere to a work schedule and address challenges as they arise.
Ability to follow company policies and rules, promote safety standards, and avoid inappropriate risks.
Pride in work and a commitment to achieving goals.

Responsibilities

Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspections in accordance with company policy, ensuring windows, lights, mirrors, and rear-view cameras are clean.
Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders, following proper safety standards.
Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
Monitor equipment condition to keep it operationally ready and minimize downtime; clean tracks or wheels as needed.
Perform and document minor equipment service and refer more complicated mechanical issues to the Maintenance Shop.
Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other required reports, and report necessary repairs to a supervisor.
Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
Ensure the shop is clean, serviced, and equipment is stored at the end of each shift.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Help maintain a positive work environment through constructive communication and cooperation with customers, clients, vendors, coworkers, and management.
