About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Heavy Commercial Truck and Trailer Field Adjuster to join our Claims team. This role is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and managing physical damage claims involving heavy commercial Trucks and Trailers throughout an assigned territory. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, understands how repair facilities and body shops operate, and has experience evaluating both repairable and total loss claims. This individual will play a vital role in ensuring our insureds experience minimal downtime by facilitating timely repairs and delivering cost-effective claim solutions that get our insureds back up and operational as quickly as possible. This position offers the opportunity to work independently in the field while partnering closely with insureds, repair facilities, and internal claims professionals to provide exceptional service and claim outcomes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of repairing claims heavy commercial trucks or trailers, or adjusting physical damage claims involving commercial trucks or trailers.
  • Experience with Heavy Commercial truck and trailer repairs.
  • Strong understanding of body shop operations, repair processes, estimating procedures, labor operations, and parts sourcing.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment construction, repair methods, and damage assessment.
  • Experience negotiating repair estimates and managing vendor relationships.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage a field territory.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • You understand the urgency of getting customers back up and operational after a loss.
  • You can confidently evaluate repairability and total loss exposures.
  • You understand how body shops and repair facilities operate and can effectively manage repair timelines.
  • You balance customer service with sound claim judgment and cost-effective decision-making.
  • You are organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in the field.
  • You communicate effectively with insureds, repair facilities, agents, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections of damaged Heavy Commercial Trucks and Trailers.
  • Investigate physical damage claims and determine the scope of damages.
  • Evaluate repair costs, repair feasibility, and total loss exposures.
  • Prepare accurate damage assessments and maintain detailed claim documentation.
  • Ensure all claim handling activities comply with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with insureds, repair facilities, body shops, and vendors to facilitate timely repairs.
  • Manage claims efficiently to minimize downtime and help insureds return to normal operations as quickly as possible.
  • Monitor repair progress and provide proactive communication throughout the claims process.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for insureds during the repair and settlement process.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while balancing quality, efficiency, and cost containment.
  • Evaluate and negotiate total loss settlements involving heavy commercial trucks and trailers.
  • Determine appropriate repair versus total loss recommendations.
  • Review salvage considerations and settlement options.
  • Accurately document valuations and claim decisions.
  • Review estimates and negotiate repair costs to ensure fair and cost-effective claim resolutions.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with repair facilities and body shops.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining repair quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to achieve favorable claim outcomes.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory, including Reno, Northern California, and Salt Lake City.
  • Conduct onsite inspections and maintain a strong field presence.
  • Effectively manage workload, scheduling, and claim priorities across a multi-state territory.
