About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator / Nursing Assistant (HUC/NA) performs general clerical and receptionist duties on the nursing unit, including medical record maintenance, order processing, typing and/or word processing, and materials management. The role assists visitors, nursing staff, and members of the health care team, and helps maintain a clean and safe environment. Other work-related duties are completed as assigned.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an approved educational program for nursing assistants or equivalent.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to interact and communicate with people by telephone and in person, including in stressful situations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of patient medical records and clinical documents.
• Skill using hospital computer systems for ADT order entry, requisitions, lab inquiries, and other computerized processes, as well as related software and hardware applications.
• Knowledge of clinical procedures and operations.
• Knowledge of supplies, equipment ordering, and inventory control.
• Clerical, word processing, and office skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend English sufficiently to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.

Responsibilities
