About The Position

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Health Promotion Program Manager position within the Center for Well-Being. This position has a full-time equivalency (FTE) of 0.92 and is anticipated to be an 11-month position with the month of June off. The Health Promotion Program Manager advances student well-being and success through the leadership of campus prevention initiatives, peer education, violence prevention, and collaborative campus partnerships. This position reports to the Senior Director of Health Promotion and Counseling and, in collaboration with the Senior Director, advances strategic priorities related to student well-being and prevention. Using a public health and population-based approach, the Health Promotion Program Manager develops innovative, evidence-informed strategies that promote student well-being across multiple domains, including physical, emotional, intellectual, and social health. Health Promotion initiatives are guided by campus data, assessment findings, and student needs, and are regularly evaluated to ensure program effectiveness and impact. This position works collaboratively with the university, community, state, and national organizations to advance prevention efforts and promote a culture of well-being across the St. Thomas campus. The Center for Well-Being is an integrated health center that brings together Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, and Health Promotion to support the holistic well-being of the St. Thomas community. The successful candidate will work in support of the University’s Catholic mission and develop and implement policies, programs, services, and best practices aligned with the Principles of Good Practice for Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Public Health, Leadership in Higher Education, or related field
Four years of experience in health education/promotion and/or higher education environment
Knowledge of how to develop and implement theory-based strategies.
Demonstrated experience with coordination of events, including large scale events.
Passion for working with college students.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including managing/coordinating people.
Demonstrated experience conducting needs assessment and literature review.
Able to work some evening and weekend events (i.e., Wellness 5k).

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in health education, Health Promotion, Public Health, Leadership in Higher Education or related field
Two years post- master’s degree professional work experience, preferably in higher education
Certified Health Education Program Manager (CHES) or the ability and intent to become certified
An equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be considered.

Responsibilities

Lead and Grow the Peer Health Educator Program: Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Peer Health Educator (PHE) program, including recruiting, training, supervising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate peer educators. Expand the scope, visibility, and impact of the PHE program as a signature prevention and leadership initiative. Develop leadership and professional development opportunities for the PHEs to strengthen their leadership capacity and expand the program’s impact across campus. Design and implement a structured peer education curriculum that prepares PHEs to deliver engaging, evidence-informed workshops and outreach that promote multiple dimensions of student well-being, including physical, emotional, intellectual, and social health.
Coordinate Violence Prevention Education and Initiatives: Develop and coordinate student-facing education and prevention initiatives related to violence prevention, healthy relationships, consent, and bystander intervention. Partner with campus departments, including Title IX, Athletics, Dean of Students Office, Residence Life to deliver training and outreach that strengthens student awareness and promotes a culture of safety and respect. Contribute to the university’s compliance efforts related to prevention education requirements.
Program Development, Assessment and Strategy: Create and present educational programs to diverse campus groups and collaborate on Center for Well-Being-wide events such as FYEX excursions, the Homecoming 5K, and other signature initiatives. Contribute to program development, assessment, and strategy by collecting and analyzing participation data, learning outcomes, and campus health indicators, using these insights to continuously refine programs and ensure they effectively advance student well-being.
Campus Partnerships: Serve as a key collaborator with campus partners to support prevention education aligned with federal compliance requirements (e.g., VAWA, Clery Act, EDGAR Part 86 – DFSA). Represent the Center for Well-Being on campus committees and working groups and contribute to university-wide efforts that promote student well-being.
