About The Position

We’re currently searching for a Health Promotion Coordinator to join our Hokie Wellness team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. This role is centered on providing holistic well-being resources to the Virginia Tech community by focusing on a variety of health and well-being topics. The Health Promotion Coordinator will be responsible for advancing student health and well-being through the implementation, facilitation, and supervision of evidence-informed, theory-driven initiatives focused on connection and belonging. This role will oversee the daily operations of The Connection Project (TCP) as well as other programs and initiatives that enhance student connection and well-being. The coordinator will provide direct supervision to student facilitators and staff who support these initiatives and will have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in human development, counseling, psychology, social work, public health, or a related field.
Experience with group facilitation/management skills and facilitating small groups of college students on mental health/connection topics.
Experience supervising and mentoring student staff with strong communication and leadership skills.
Experience working collaboratively with colleagues both departmentally and across campus to enhance programs supporting student connection and well-being.
Experience facilitating and promoting programs that foster belonging, connection, and well-being.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in human development, counseling, psychology, social work, public health, or a related field.
Prior experience collecting and working with both quantitative and qualitative data/research methods.
Professional writing skills.

Responsibilities

Advancing student health and well-being through the implementation, facilitation, and supervision of evidence-informed, theory-driven initiatives focused on connection and belonging.
Overseeing the daily operations of The Connection Project (TCP) as well as other programs and initiatives that enhance student connection and well-being.
Providing direct supervision to student facilitators and staff who support these initiatives.
Fostering a healthier Virginia Tech community by providing prevention services, education, outreach, and resources to employees and students.
Educating and empowering every Hokie to take an active and engaging day-to-day approach to their wellness in order to enjoy a long, healthful, and purpose-filled life.
