About The Position

We’re currently searching for a Health Promotion Coordinator to join our Hokie Wellness team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re passionate about student well-being, please keep reading. You’ll be joining the Hokie Wellness team; a department centered on providing holistic well-being resources to the Virginia Tech community by focusing on a variety of health and well-being topics. You’ll be reporting to the Assistant Director of Health Education, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. You’ll be responsible for advancing student health and well-being through the implementation, facilitation, and supervision of evidence-informed, theory-driven initiatives focused on connection and belonging. You'll oversee the daily operations of The Connection Project (TCP) as well as other programs and initiatives that enhance student connection and well-being. You'll provide direct supervision to student facilitators and staff who support these initiatives. You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human development, counseling, psychology, social work, public health, or a related field.
  • Experience with group facilitation/management skills and facilitating small groups of college students on mental health/connection topics.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring student staff with strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with colleagues both departmentally and across campus to enhance programs supporting student connection and well-being.
  • Experience facilitating and promoting programs that foster belonging, connection, and well-being.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in human development, counseling, psychology, social work, public health, or a related field.
  • Prior experience collecting and working with both quantitative and qualitative data/research methods.
  • Professional writing skills.
