The Department of Health, Division of Senior and Disabilities Services, is recruiting for an experienced and self-motivated program manager to join the SDS Grants Unit team. In this position, you will be responsible for the full scope of statewide program planning, administration, development, management, implementation, and evaluation of grant-funded services for Alaska’s seniors and individuals experiencing a disability. This will include managing multiple grant programs with varying requirements and structures. Additionally, in this postion you will also: partner closely with grantees and community-based agencies to ensure effective program implementation and use of grant funds, providing technical assistance and developing training materials; work collaboratively with State and community partners; manage a variety of service delivery programs, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of these services. Frequent travel within the state of Alaska is required in this position. SDS’s mission is to promote health, well-being, and safety for individuals with disabilities, seniors, and vulnerable adults by facilitating access to quality services and supports that foster independence, personal choice, and dignity. The focus of the Grants Unit is to work with federal, state, and local partners to develop high-quality, culturally relevant programs that meet the unique needs of our beneficiaries throughout the state. Requirements

  • Analysis and Assessment: Uses information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and disseminating data and information.
  • Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (e.g., facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material and information that is appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Community Dimensions of Practice: Distinguishes the roles and responsibilities of governmental and non-governmental organizations in providing programs and services to improve the health of a community.
  • Partnering: Develops networks and builds alliances; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.
  • Public Health: Applies knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, methods, and tools associated with protecting and improving the health of people and their communities, including promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing, and responding to infectious diseases.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biological, health, or behavioral science; health practice; education; public, healthcare, or business administration; or a closely related field; AND/OR Progressively responsible professional experience performing health program planning, development, coordination, evaluation, or implementation; providing technical health care assistance and consultation; conducting health care utilization or quality assurance examinations; and/or delivering health care.
  • Frequent travel within the state.
  • A valid and current Alaskan driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
