About The Position

This position is open to All Applicants. This position will be filled at either the 2, or 3 level, depending on the applicant's qualifications and job experience. As a Public Health Nurse (PHN) at the Bethel Public Health Clinic, you will make a significant impact on community health. As a PHN 2, you'll work at the Public Health Center and may travel to nearby areas to provide necessary nursing services. In the role of PHN 3, you'll collaborate with individuals, families, and organizations to support public health initiatives. Your efforts will focus on delivering essential health services and interventions. Together, we aim to improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities in the community. As a member of the Section of Public Health Nursing, you will contribute every day to the improvement of the health of Alaskans and their families. Requirements

  • Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university or Direct Entry Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Proof of Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap), Mumps, Measles, Rubella (MMR), and Varicella immunizations.
  • Proof of Hepatitis B (immunity or a signed declination statement).
  • Annual influenza vaccination or a signed declination statement.
  • Proof of Tuberculosis screening within the past 12 months.
  • For PHN 3: Competencies in Public Health, Decision Making, Interpersonal Skills, Partnering, and Analysis and Assessment.
  • For PHN 3: Equivalent to advanced post-secondary education in nursing, public health, healthcare services, healthcare administration, or a closely related field that includes master’s level study in nursing and/or public health; AND/OR Professional experience in public health, community health, international health, and/or occupational health nursing.
