About The Position

This position is a member of an outstanding nursing and direct care staff at the Sitka Pioneer Home and plays a vital role in providing care and support in a safe environment for up to sixty-five (65) elders. The mission of the Division of the Alaska Pioneer Homes is: "Providing elder Alaskans a home and community, celebrating life through its final breath." This position provides clinical and medication administration to residents and clinical support to the care teams. Focus will be on quality resident care, the growth, development, and empowerment of health care teams, and the promotion of assisted living philosophy and statutes. This position is part of an amazing team with opportunities to make a positive impact on the quality of life for our Alaskan elders by providing excellent person-centered loving care and services. This position is surrounded by elder residents with many years of experience and wisdom who are in varying stages of their life journey.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
  • Two years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse, one of which must have been at the full performance/journey level.
  • Examples of this latter experience include but are not exclusively limited to prior service as a Nurse II, Corrections Nurse II, or Psychiatric Nurse II with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.
  • Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite qualifying experience, may apply for vacancies in this job class.
  • Proof of licensure will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.
  • Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment.
  • Some positions may require the successful applicant to provide proof they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire.
  • Employees are required to be tested annually.
  • At time of interview applicant must provide: Two (2) professional references (including work/supervisor-related) and three (3) character references (personal) with current contact information.
  • If selected and prior to hire, applicants will be asked to: Submit to fingerprinting and criminal background check screening.
  • Provide current evidence to be free from active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) with test results dated within the last 12 months prior to start date.
  • Provide a copy of current CPR and First Aid certificate(s), if available.
