About The Position

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Fairbanks, or Juneau. Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual. The role supports the Food Safety and Sanitation program within the Division of Environmental Health. Responsibilities include managing key administrative operations such as financial tracking and reporting, spending plans, payroll and personnel coordination, procurement and purchasing, and travel tracking. The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and communication skills who takes initiative and pride in supporting meaningful work that makes a difference across Alaska. The Division of Environmental Health works to ensure safe food, safe drinking water, and healthy communities for all Alaskans. The Food Safety and Sanitation program plays an important role in protecting public health through clear communication, teamwork, and customer service. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis, including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems.
  • Ability to set well-defined and realistic personal goals, display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner, work with minimal supervision, be motivated to achieve, and demonstrate responsible behavior.
  • Empathy, understanding, and effective communication skills to maintain effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and situations.
  • Ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ability to make sound, well-informed decisions that will have an impact on the organization and commit to action, even in uncertain situations.
  • Notary Public commission (can be obtained after hire).
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License.
  • Level 1 Procurement Authority (can be obtained after hire).
  • One year of experience performing journey-level technical duties in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement.
  • OR Two years of post-secondary education from an accredited college (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours equals 1 year).
  • OR Two years of entry-level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement.
  • OR Two years of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or entry-level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement.
  • Contact information for three (3) professional references, with at least two (2) from a current or former supervisor.
  • Last two (2) performance evaluations.
