About The Position

Comprehensive Life Resources is looking for a qualified Health Information Technician to join our growing team in downtown Tacoma. Requirements

  • Analyze medical record data; maintain the electronically filing medical record documentation by verifying the completeness, accuracy, and entry into the computerized medical records.
  • Provide assistance to the Health Information Manager in writing detailed and complex workflow procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Organize medical record documentation in preparation for electronic sorting, scanning, and indexing.
  • Analyze processes and write workflows.
  • Accurately selects the proper type of client episodes to place the medical record documentation when scanning records into the charts.
  • Forward specific medical record documentation to outside providers via the electronic ROI process.
  • Perform cut and paste functions in windows applications for electronic filing.
  • Meet medical record department standards for electronic scanning, indexing, and filing.
  • Provide management staff daily statistics on documents electronically filed.
  • Analyze, format, print, and mail records to clients and providers for all CLR programs.
  • Problem solves and merges to correct duplicate medical records and ensures the chart documentation is in the correct place.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of medical records and scanning equipment in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Fax medical record documentation in accordance with HIPAA, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Provide customer service to clients, providers, and other customers for release of information by answering incoming calls and emails from outside entities, including current and former clients.
  • Process and respond to all HIM emails in a timely manner.
  • Assist the HIM Manager in the research of current state and federal laws to ensure the facilities HIM/HIPAA policies are up to date and accurate.
  • Coordinate with other CLR programs as needed to create/troubleshoot paperwork workflows to increase staff productivity.
  • Provide additional training to CLR employees as needed regarding HIPAA Privacy and HIM functions.
  • Collect and securely transport medical records from both residential facilities weekly QA, processing, scanning, and importing.
  • Maintain the collection and destruction of confidential bin contents with partnered shredding business.
  • Monitor the quality of documents to ensure they are the correct form, contain the correct identifiers, and filed in the appropriate chart.
  • Processes incoming faxes for HIM, Outpatient Programs, and other programs at CLR.
  • Process the release of Treatment Plan Reviews from our children’s inpatient facility every 90 days to their respective MCO’s.
  • Prepare the release of Discharge Summary from our Children’s Inpatient Facility upon documentation finalization to the applicable entities.
  • Manages the uploading and processing of consents via the HCA’s Electronic Consent Management system for the entire agency.
  • Assists in creating consents for the agency.
  • Responds to and problem-solve CLR Resource HUB tickets that apply to HIM functions.
  • Manages, troubleshoots, and trains CLR employees in ShareFile.
  • Send out applicable records to CHC for participating clients to facilitate the integrated health requirements as part of our CCBHC agreement.
  • Assist the nursing team with sending over necessary documents for prior authorizations in a timely manner.
  • Preparing and releasing necessary documents for program audits, chart reviews, judicial subpoenas, and judicial court orders as applicable by state and federal laws.
  • Process any incoming documents through IntakeQ.
  • Uses Microsoft products, adobe pro, kno2, and other software programs to perform daily job functions.
  • Contributes to the success of the organization, keeping current on new developments within Comprehensive Life Resources and by performing other duties as needed or assigned.
