About The Position

The Health Center Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of staff members and daily operations of the health center. This role involves leading a team, managing performance, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and optimizing patient flow and customer service within the health center.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and technical systems.
  • Completion of an Associate’s Degree program with a recognized major and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; OR a combination of relevant experience and completion of a high school diploma with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, or General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5.
  • Healthcare-related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate-type program.
  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience OR five years of progressively greater responsibility or significant contributions to projects and initiatives that demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Minimum credit score of 650.
  • Ability to prepare more complex documents in Microsoft Word, including creating tables, charts, graphs and other elements.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to analyze data, including the use of formulas, functions, lookup tables and other standard spreadsheet elements.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions and other elements.
  • Medical Assistant/LVN Certification at locations without a Floor Supervisor.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, opinions and extrapolations of information collected and synthesized/analyzed.
  • Responsibility for the resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and prepare information in an effective written form.
  • Ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Regularly required to sit and type.
  • Frequently required to stand or walk.
  • Occasionally squat, kneel, and reach above and below shoulder height to lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the high school diploma or Associate’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise staff members and oversee daily operations of the health center.
  • Provide supervision to departmental staff, including selection, talent building, performance management, recognition, evaluations, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, and other status changes for assigned staff.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, build a successful team, and align team performance.
  • Ensure employees receive necessary instruction and training for their job responsibilities and compliance with training plans.
  • Provide on-the-job training, develop employees, and arrange for remediation when necessary.
  • Manage the work of the assigned team, assign duties, and provide daily guidance and supervision.
  • Monitor staff performance, department staffing, and resolve issues preventing goal attainment, providing feedback to the manager.
  • Ensure employees adhere to company workflows, procedures, and policies, and correct actions outside of policy immediately.
  • Identify trend offenses and report them to the manager as necessary.
  • Recommend workflow and procedure changes based on observations.
  • Assist the manager in ensuring department expenses stay within budget.
  • Maintain compliance with all employee-related reporting and tracking.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to develop, implement, and track operational plans to improve health center performance goals.
  • Identify opportunities and implement strategies for improving customer service, patient throughput, and patient flow through operational reports and staff feedback.
  • Ensure patient information is collected, verified, updated, and financial options are reviewed and offered during registration.
  • Verify insurance eligibility through appropriate sources.
  • Perform legal documentation and chart completion according to policy and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic chart audits to ensure the Health Center remains audit ready.
  • Conduct health center rounding to ensure high customer service, team rapport, and compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission, regulatory agencies, and infection control guidelines.
  • Complete the Health Center Checklist and follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Handle patient complaints, assist patients, and develop solutions to problems.
  • Collaborate with other department supervisors to resolve patient issues.
  • Ensure all relevant logs (sterilization, medication, AIC, crash cart, OC for glucose, refrigerator, oxygen tank) are accurately maintained.
  • Ensure supplies, medication, forms, and equipment are ordered and in stock.
  • Participate in and assist with facilitating staff meetings.
  • Assist in facilitating efficient patient flow by coordinating front and back office and ancillary services.
  • Utilize dashboard and metric tools to ensure efficient patient flow and reduce wait times.
  • Ensure appointment schedules are maximized and spread throughout the shift.
  • Ensure staff follow operational workflows related to registration, eligibility, copay collections, vitals, referrals, and clinical procedures.
  • Prepare and post staff schedules at least one month in advance.
  • Administer initial and annual skills/competency assessments.
  • Adhere to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy.
  • Present to and work at any FHCN location based on business need.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
